Choosing the Right Body Piercer

Many people are surprised when they find out that their state that they live in does not require any formal training for body piercers. All it takes is a check to the state and you can become license to start piercing anyone that will want a new piercing. However, health regulations are in affect for those who pierce in a professional setting, i.e. a piercing shop. For those people who do the piercings at home, they do not always have to follow the health regulations, or decide not to.


Training
For those individuals who love piercing and want to get better at it will attend training classes in preparation before starting to pierce anyone. Some body piercers say they went to training, but all their training consist of is a video, textbook, or sometimes even seminars. However, that is not quality training since they did not get practice to pierce live tissue. Therefore, the body piercers who are serious about this will shadow other experience piercers to slowly get their feet wet in the body piercing field.

Even after the body piercer shadows an experience one, some prefer to be looked after they do a few piercings themselves. This usually happens because they want to get a better at understanding the piercing about the different piercing they may have to do. Therefore do not get sucking in because the body piercer has a legal license because that is not hard to obtain. Any piercer can acquire one with little to no effort. However, some good questions to ask the piercer when thinking of using him is usually how long have you been in business, ask if they were trained under someone and if so, who.

Portfolios
Some body piercers will try and win you over with their portfolio. However, most of their portfolios will only showcase their good work not all of the work they have done, so choosing someone off of their portfolio does have its disadvantages and advantages. With that being said, if you are going in for a common piercing of the ear then they would not be a bad candidate because that is commonly done by many body piercers. However, if you are going to get your tongue pierce then you will want someone who has a portfolio showcasing their tongue piercings.

If you do your homework, then you will soon be able to know who is good, qualified, and professional, from the bad, nonqualified, and unprofessional ones. With this information you will be able to walk into a body piercing shop and know that you made the right choice choosing him to pierce you. If your gut says this is not the person then do a little bit more research and find the perfect guy because you do not want something to go wrong.
