Precautions With Belly Button Piercings

Naval piercing is becoming more and more popular around the world. These piercings make young girls feel sexy and cool because they can buy a wide variety of piercing jewelry. However, the most bought piece of jewelry is a 14 gauge curbed barbell. If the piercing is performed correctly then the piercing will heal with little to no issues. Fortunately, there are precautions and contraindications for anybody wanting to get this procedure done.

Precautions With Bellybutton Piercings

Finding the Prefect Piercer
It is wise to do your homework before going to get your naval piercing done. You must make sure the piercer you will use is well-trained, follows health safety precautions, and knows the proper procedure. It is best to visit a couple of different piercing shops to speak to all the different piercers and their portfolios. It is important to look at their photos, especially the photos of the naval piercings. This will help determine if they are worth the risk or not.

Sterile Piercing Procedures
A professional piercer that was trained in preventing cross-contamination will lay out their tools on a disinfected stainless steel tray that is covered with a fresh dental bib. These tools will be tucked away in autoclave bags, which will have paper backs and plastic fronts. Autoclave is a machine that uses high temperature and pressure steam to kill all the contaminants on the different reusable tools. However, piercing needles will also be located in the autoclave bags and will be disposed like cotton swabs, toothpicks, and rubber bands.

Also, any tool that makes contact with your skin must be replaced back on the dental bib after each use and the piercing needles must be disposed of in the medical sharps container. If you are still scared you can ask to see your piercers autoclave room. They will gladly show you, in the room you will find autoclave bags, which happen to be brown during sterilization. If you see a bag that has blue dots that indicates that the bag has not been through the autoclave and it is not ready to be used yet.
